Valentine's day. And delicious lunch.

Happy Valentine's Day. Whether or not you celebrate this "Hallmark holiday", I hope you are enjoying your Sunday and long weekend.

Steve was telling me earlier about how lots of his friends and coworkers kept asking what the two of us were planning for today. And honestly? Neither one of us bought gifts, or chocolates, or made plans for dinner or to see a movie. Some of you may find that sad. But honestly? I'm really not into the hype, though I appreciate homemade cookies and things.

Personally, I'd rather skip going out for dinner around here (I feel like I've eaten out at all of the good places so many times), and go on trips to New York City or Boston or Montreal more often. For really good food you can't find in the Berkshires. I don't want to seem like a snob about the restaurants here, but my palate just doesn't appreciate our favorite restaurants as much as it used to. I think we'll make pasta primavera tonight, loaded with fresh veggies.

The picture doesn't do it justice, but on another note, my lunch today was delicious. Just what I was craving. Homemade honey wheat bread (via bread machine) topped with cheese, avocado, and fried eggs; with sliced red bell peppers on the side. Yum yum.

Random post today. I blame it on being in vacation mode. I'm tackling lots of projects over the next few days, so my mind is all over the place. Happy Weekend!

wow, that looks incredible. I need to do more with eggs for lunch and dinner.

i think i would've been more surprised if you had bought the chocolates and gifts - it doesn't seem to fit your homemade philosophy. i love the idea of just staying in and being together, doing something simple. life is all about those simple moments, not the big plans.

ps: i love your lunch - is there a better combination than eggs and avocado?
