More apples. This time dried.

Along with applesauce making back in the fall, I also tried drying apples for the first time. They were a great snack, on their own or mixed into trail mix. If you ever make these though, eat them up quickly! After two weeks, I think because the apples weren't fully dry, the ones we had left got moldy and had to be thrown away.

To make them:
Turn oven onto lowest setting. If you like your dried apples peeled, peel them first. Then core. Slice apples very thinly. Place just one layer on a cookie sheet. Check every hour. I dried my batch for four hours.
Note: There are other methods for drying apples, like sun drying or using a food dehydrator. This site has some those techniques.
